Parent/Child Reunification

An emergency situation could mean that it is not safe to stay or return to the school. In this case, parent reunification procedures would be implemented and parents would be asked to pick up their children in a formal controlled release. Families can help by following these steps:

• STAY INFORMED: during an emergency, the district will work to notify families in several ways including voice, text, and email messages. Keep phone numbers & emergency contact information updated through our website or by contacting your child’s school.
• STAY HOME: wait for official accurate information from the district and do not come to the school as this may endanger yourself or your children.
• BE READY: if it becomes necessary to pick-up your child, listen carefully to any messages from the school as specific information about the process will be communicated to you. Know that you will need to show an ID and that only parents, guardians, and individuals listed with the district as emergency contacts will be allowed to pick up your child.

It's important to note that the reunification center may be separate from the school and/or its evacuation site. In addition, each school has multiple reunification sites that can be accessed depending on the nature of the crisis. Do not assume that you know the school's evacuation site. Please limit calling or texting your child to keep communication systems open and know that your child may not be able to respond to calls or texts. The District will make every effort to keep families informed through the automated messaging system and the media.
