ACT Score 24.5 Highest Ever Achieved

Cedar Falls' class of 2016 had an average composite score of 24.5, it is the highest average the district has ever achieved. Dan Conrad, Director of Secondary Education, said " We are also pleased with the increase in the percentage of students meeting the college readiness benchmarks. All four benchmarks were met by 53 percent of test-takers,  up 6 percentage points from last year. This compares to 33 percent for the state and 28 percent for the nation."

Robotics Team Travels to China

The Cedar Falls High School FIRST Robotics Competition Team 525 made their third summer trip to China in August. Team members helped new Chinese teams complete robots for a scrimmage.  The Swartdogs also participated in the scrimmage.  In addition to the robotics events, team members had some time for sightseeing, with visits to the Great Wall of China and the Yellow Mountains among the highlights.

District Recognized by STEM Council

The Cedar Falls School District was recognized by the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council as a distinguished partner in advancing STEM education for youth, not only across the district but throughout the state as well. A plaque of recognition was presented to district administrators by Jeff Weld, Ph.D., Executive Director of the STEM Council, for valued contributions to the statewide program.
